St Kitts and Nevis Company Tax and Annual Compliance in 2026 — What You Actually Owe, Every Year

What a St Kitts and Nevis company actually owes each year — the tax-residency election that decides your rate, the Registrar's Annual Renewal Fee, beneficial ownership record-keeping, and the official government sources that confirm it.

St Kitts and Nevis doesn't run a flat "0% offshore" model the way some jurisdictions market themselves — since the 2017–2020 reforms that took the Federation off the EU's non-cooperative list, what you owe depends on a tax-residency election you make with the Inland Revenue Department. Here's what's actually due every year, and where the real costs sit.

What you owe on income

St Kitts and Nevis' standard corporate income tax rate is 33%, charged under the Income Tax Act Cap 20.22 and the Tax Administration and Procedures Act (TAPA), 2003. Resident companies are taxed on worldwide profits. Non-resident companies — those not centrally managed and controlled from the Federation — are taxed only on St Kitts and Nevis-sourced income; most Nevis Business Corporations with no local operations owe 0% under this test. A Nevis Business Corporation can formally apply for a Tax Resident Certificate, or elect cessation of tax residency, under sections 139 and 143 of the Nevis Business Corporation Ordinance, 2017 — the official application and renewal fee for a Tax Resident Certificate is US$1,500 each, per the Nevis Business Corporation (Forms and Fees) Regulations, 2017.

What you owe every year, regardless

Annual Renewal Fee, paid to the Registrar of Corporations before the anniversary date of the company's registration. The standard fee is US$250 (Articles of Incorporation without Bylaws) or US$300 (with Bylaws) at formation, and US$250 annually thereafter, per the Nevis Business Corporation (Forms and Fees) Regulations, 2017. Late payment adds US$115 if paid within 1–6 months of the due date, or US$250 if paid within 6–12 months.

Registered Agent and registered office, maintained continuously in Nevis — failing to designate a new Registered Agent when required carries a penalty of US$500.

Beneficial ownership records, kept current with the licensed Registered Agent under section 102 of the NBCO. Bearer shares, if issued, must be immobilised with the Registered Agent, who must maintain evidence of their beneficial owners; failure carries a penalty of up to EC$30,000.

CIT-101 Corporate Income Tax Return, required of Nevis International Business Corporations under the Federation's standard filing regime — confirm your specific obligation with the Inland Revenue Department based on your tax-residency election and income sources.

VAT registration and returns, only if the company operates within St Kitts and Nevis. The standard VAT rate is 17% (confirmed by the Inland Revenue Department, effective 1 July 2025).

What happens if you're late

Late Annual Renewal Fees escalate through the penalty bands above the longer the delay runs; failing to maintain a Registered Agent risks a US$500 penalty and, ultimately, being struck from the register (with a US$200 reinstatement fee to be restored). Failing to maintain evidence of beneficial owners of bearer shares can carry a penalty of up to EC$30,000, and general non-compliance with the Ordinance can carry a penalty of up to EC$10,000.
